Orwasher_Scanogram_Self_Portrait.jpg

This is a self-portrait made from items that were scanned directly into a computer. When gathering items, I sought pieces that a representative of my everyday life, values, and thoughts. Each item is an integral part of my life. As example, the tea bags signify my search for calmness and serenity among a life filled with chaos and stress; the necklace and nail polish signify the idea of vanity. In manipulating the items, I chose to play with the opacity and light exposure, as many of the objects scanned were translucent. As a result, the scanner picked up on very interesting light and reflections when the light ran over the various translucent objects. I chose to leave the sunglasses in their original form as to represent myself with all of this outside items influencing how I view every day.
